Seeing [url=http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-maps/524279-4-downfall]ATTx’s Downfall[/url] gave me an idea. Diagonal 4-spawn maps have been very rare, because of how hard they are to balance, but with this map, I decided to tackle that by just making the map bounds bigger. Not much bigger, but enough to open up some possibilities. This gave me the necessary room to balance all the necessary expansions and rush distances, without relying on gimmicks to balance it.
The corners themselves are de-emphasized, with watchtowers covering one set, and air blockers shrinking the other. The operative idea being: the space in between is what you want with this type of symmetry. The rush distances in the closer spawns are standard, but in cross spawns you have a much more clearly macro setup.
