Laniakea
Laniakea or “Immeasurable heaven” is a 2 player map which will undoubtedly raise some eyebrows, not only does it feature a open Natural, but the very unseen central Semi-Island Gold base, with a exposed Mineral Line.
The Semi-Island Gold is quite the feature, Terran players can fly their Command Center to it if they so desire, but that’s a dangerous gambit because not only is the base itself quite exposed, but the Mineral Line can be attacked by basically any ranged unit (Not including Ultralisks sadly (?)) which means that defenses need to be put in place to defend it from aggression if the player does not also control the base behind it.
Because the Semi-Island Gold can also be mined from the back of it, it means that Zerg players can use it as a extra little income with their macro Hatches, same thing with a Terran that needs a little extra income and has a extra Orbital Command nearby.
Regarding the Natural bases, the “entrance” to the Naturals can be walled off with ease, but because of the secondary entrance the the big diagonal rocks near the Main ramp it means that players will still need to be careful regarding attacks. Other thing important to mention are that the big Diagonal rocks are the key to the safe by ground expansion, but because the integrity of said rocks is important in the early game, taking the safe by ground base can be dangerous vs a smart and quick opponent who could easily punish the move by putting pressure in the back entrance and then do a serious attack into the weak point between the Natural Wall and the safe by ground Third expansion.
