Full Circle

Full Circle v0.00.18 70º

“Shrieks of war fill the morning air, as your army fearfully prepares for battle.”

Yes! The return of Full Circle is happening! Very much like Midnight Lagoon and Crystallis, Full Circle is yet another of these all time classics from the original BroodWar Map Pool. Yet this time instead of me apologizing to my Zerg buddies, I have to apologize to my Protoss friends, because Full Circle is probably the least Protoss friendly map ever. Full Circle showcases a open Main base with a high ground Natural base behind a 1x sized ramp, meaning that building positioning for the Terran and specially Protoss players is simply crucial.

Like many old SC1 and BW classics, Full Circle is a map of very scarce resources so unit efficiency and micro are very important. Going for units with a high Micro skill Ceiling is a very good way to take advantage of what would otherwise be a constrain for players.

The map historically favours Zerg, yet as I said previously, doing aggressive openings and taking advantage of the terrain such as the highground pods near the Main’s bridge are a excellent way to counter weight the Z influence the map has, specially now that we are talking about SC2 where we have units like the Tankivac, also doing openings such as Phoenix and Liberator that counter the inherent advantage Z has in mobility and speed  with army compositions such as Muta/Ling is another superb way to take the initiative out of the Zerg.

Overall, even when Full Circle is and forever will be a Zerg favored map, SC2 with his new units and strategies makes it feel almost half-balaced, it was quite fun to play as Z with some army comps that I thought would be unbeatable and find out that they don’t work as well as I would have thought at first hand!
